Garlic Beef & Green Bean Stir-Fry
Garlic Beef & Green Bean Stir-Fry
This quick and easy garlic beef stir-fry is bursting with bold Asian flavors. Tender beef slices, crisp green beans, and a savory garlic-infused sauce come together in just minutes. It's a perfect go-to dish for busy nights and pairs beautifully with steamed rice or low-carb alternatives like cauliflower rice.
Ingredients:
- 1 lb (450g) flank steak, thinly sliced
- 2 cups fresh green beans, trimmed
- 3 cloves garlic, finely minced
- 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
- 3 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
- 1 tbsp hoisin sauce (adds sweetness and depth)
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce (optional, but enhances umami)
- 1 tbsp honey or brown sugar
- 1 tbsp sesame oil, for finishing
- 1 tbsp vegetable or avocado oil
- 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional for heat)
- 1 tsp cornstarch + 2 tbsp water (for thickening)
- 1 tbsp sesame seeds & sliced green onions (for garnish)
Instructions:
- Make the sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, hoisin sauce, oyster sauce, honey, and red pepper flakes. Set aside.
- Cook the beef: Heat ½ tbsp oil in a large pan or wok over medium-high heat. Add the thinly sliced beef and stir-fry for 2–3 minutes, searing each piece until browned. Remove and set aside.
- Sauté the green beans: In the same pan, add the remaining oil and toss in the green beans. Cook for 3–4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they are slightly tender but still crisp.
- Add garlic & ginger: Push the green beans to one side of the pan. Add minced garlic and grated ginger to the empty space, stirring for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Bring it all together: Return the beef to the pan and pour in the sauce. Stir well to coat all ingredients evenly.
- Thicken the sauce (optional): Mix cornstarch with water, then stir it into the pan. Let it cook for another minute, allowing the sauce to thicken.
- Finish & serve: Drizzle with sesame oil, sprinkle with sesame seeds and green onions. Serve hot with rice, noodles, or a low-carb side.
Tips for Success:
- For ultra-tender beef, marinate it in a little soy sauce and cornstarch for 10–15 minutes before cooking.
- Adjust spice level by adding more red pepper flakes or a splash of sriracha.
- Swap green beans for broccoli, snap peas, or bell peppers for variety.
- For a keto-friendly version, skip the cornstarch and replace honey with a sugar-free alternative.
This flavor-packed stir-fry is perfect for a quick, satisfying meal with minimal effort!
